Description
Madeleine Angevine is a white wine grape from the Loire Valley in France that is popular in the United Kingdom. The early-ripening grape is a cross between Madeleine Royale and de Malingre grapes a Riesling-type that grows well in cooler climates. Madeleine Angevine makes an attractive fruity wine with a flowery nose, similar to an Alsatian Pinot Blanc. It is crisp and dry, and pairs particularly well with seafoods such as scallops and oysters.
Tasting note:
Danebury’s Madeleine Angevine is a beautifully elegant wine, reminiscent of an English orchard. Ripe orchard fruit and flinty aromas mingle on the nose and continue to show on the palate. The mouthfeel is rounded with a slight chalky texture: a nod to the Hampshire chalky soils on which the grapes were grown, tempering the wine’s racy acidity and adding structure. A light honeyed note develops on the finish, contributing a subtle richness.
