Zoom in - Meet Gin Distiller Tarquin Leadbetter
Tarquin Leadbetter is the founder and Master Distiller of Southwestern Distillery, known for creating Tarquin’s Cornish Gin. A classically trained chef from the Cordon Bleu in Paris, Tarquin started his distilling journey with a small pot-still on his kitchen stove.
At just 23, he left his job in London to pursue his passion for crafting gin. After numerous experiments, he perfected his recipe, which includes 12 botanicals sourced globally and locally. His dedication to authenticity and craftsmanship has led to several award-winning gins, including the SeaDog Navy Strength Gin, which was named the World’s Best Gin in 2017.
Tarquin’s approach combines traditional methods with innovative techniques, ensuring each batch is unique and high-quality. His distillery, the first in Cornwall in over 100 years, reflects his commitment to heritage and excellence.
